Galesburg MS ends 2011 against Cherryvale

The Galesburg Middle School basketball teams took on Cherryvale in a home game to end their pre-Christmas schedule Thursday night.

The Galesburg boys lost the A game 38-27.

“We played better and played as a team more. We still have got to rebound better and limit turnovers,” said coach Joseph Clark.

The team was led in scoring by Riley Angleton’s 12 points. Brant Beachner added 11.

In the B game, Galesburg won 35-31 in an overtime contest.

Cameron Rice had 10 points.

There was also a C team game Thursday. Cherryvale won that game 20-16.

Trent Volz led the team with six points.

The Galesburg girls team lost to Cherryvale 39-18.

Cherryvale pulled away after leading 14-13 at the break.

“We looked good the first half,” said coach Sindy Daniels. “We ran our offense and worked the ball much better.”

Chrisana Maurer led the team with 16 points and Courtney Gard scored the other two.

The Lady Timberwolves were coming off of a game on Monday against Yates Center.

There, the C team won 17-2 behind 14 points from Ashton Hughes.

Galesburg also won the B game 25-8. Hughes scored 19 points in that game while Lindsey Roberton had four.

In the A game, Galesburg lost 33-23. Courtney Gard and Chrisana Maurer had nine points each in the loss.
