The Galesburg boys basketball team traveled to Caney Thursday evening for their return to action following Christmas break.

The Bullpups pulled out a 46-30 victory over Galesburg in the boys A game and were led in scoring by Brant Beachner, who had 13. Dylan Richwine added six.

"I thought our kids played hard for having been off for so long on break," said head coach Joe Clark.

In the B game, the two squads traded buckets, but the Timberwolves eventually won 22-18. Cameron Rice had seven and Zach Thompson pitched in with six in the game.

Caney lost the C game. Scores were unavailable. Colton Brown led the team with 11 points and JJ Burch added four.

The girls team lost the A game 25-22 but showed signs of improvement in the loss.

"We put some pressure on the ball coming up the court causing them to create turnovers," said Danials. "It took us awhile to get into our man offense, but once we did they could not handle our aggressiveness."

Caney led 11-2 after a quarter and 18-10 at half. The Timberwolves erased much of the deficit in the second half to keep the score close.

Chrisana Maurer had 13 points and Courtney Gard had five for Galesburg.

In the B game, Galesburg lost 27-11.
